So what is couponing anyway?
I found a definition on dictionary.com and it says couponing is the activity of seeking out or saving discount coupons to save money on food or household purchases.

I was hoping to find something a little fancier, but that’s it in a nutshell.

I began couponing in March of 2009 and have been spreading the word every since and I’ve started a coupon club at work.  For those new to the club, I thought it would be a good idea to put together a document to help get you started.

Where to get coupons?

There are several places to get coupons. 90% of them will come from your Sunday paper.  There are also several internet sites where you can print coupons, I've posted a few on the Links page.  All You magazine is a good source and don't forget to look around the gracery store for peelies, tearpads, and blinkies.  We'll get to the meaning of those later in this article.

You can also order clipped coupons, and inter inserts.  This is a good idea when you want to stoke pile on an item or if you forgot to get the Sunday paper one we, as I have, and all the stores seem to be out. I use
Coupon Dede. She usually has everything I'm looking for and shipping is pretty quick.

Blinkies, and Peelies and Tearpads OH MY!!

Believe it or not couponing has its own jargon and you’ll need to be familiar with it when you start looking at the matchups that will be posted on this site and other sites that I will refer you to.  Here are some starter terms that you will need to be familiar with:

·        Blinkies -  are coupons distributed in stores by coupon machines; the nickname with the flashing light on them.  I have noticed, in the Charlotte area, that Food Lion seems to have a lot of blinkies.  Blinkies are manufacturer coupons so they can be used in any store, not just the store you got them from.  My children and my nieces like to grab these for me when I have them with me at the grocery store.

·        Peelies - coupons are found as little peel off stickers on a package.

·        SS – SmartSource, these are usually inserts that come in you Sunday paper and in some areas they are distributed in the midweek paper.

·        RP – Red Plum, these are usually inserts that come in you Sunday paper and in some areas they are distributed in the midweek paper.

·        P&G – Procter and Gamble

·         BOGO - Buy One Get One

·         GM - General Mills

Stores: There are many stores that accept manufacturer’s coupons in the Charlotte area including Family Dollar and Dollar General stores.  There are also stores that will double coupons and even triple them.  Here is a list of those stores:  Harris Teeter, Bi Lo, Lowes Foods
